This case study showcases my contributions to the Track & Trace project. My work involved creating wireframes, crafting UX writing, and developing fictional brands and products. I also designed flows for both sellers and buyers.

These significant steps not only improved the overall functionality but also played a role in bringing the project’s solution to life.

Starting point

Worldline's French branch aimed to enhance online clothing retail with an AI-powered solution for authenticating high-end items, eliminating the need for costly expert verification. The solution allows sellers to follow a few simple steps to provide the necessary information for AI authentication, while also informing buyers about the details provided regarding the item's authenticity.

They sought our team’s support to develop a robust prototype for pitching the concept to retailers like Vinted and Vestiaire Collective.

The client liked the direction the project was taking but raised concerns with the initial proposals. While they recognized the use of luxury brand names and images to emphasize the authentication feature’s focus on high-end items, they cautioned that this approach could pose legal risks for the company. As a result, we had to rethink our strategy and find a new way to convey the luxury aspect without risking potential conflicts.

In an earlier version of the project, we used real luxury brand names to clearly indicate that we were dealing with high-end items, but this approach could have led to legal issues.

After addressing the client's initial feedback, we presented a more fleshed-out concept. To ensure the concept's success, we needed to minimize the demands on sellers to avoid causing frustration. This required streamlining the process as much as possible. We also emphasized that the extra steps and effort during the upload process were worthwhile, reinforcing this message throughout the app.

Creating user flows

For the authentication process, we focused on the essential elements for AI verification: RFID and QR codes, holographic labels, and proof of purchase. We ensured users were clearly guided through the steps to upload this information, making sure they weren’t left confused or unable to complete the process.

Reassuring the buyer

Reassuring the buyer

The goal of the AI authentication feature is to minimize the need for in-person expert verification by transparently informing buyers about the steps taken to verify the item’s authenticity and the information provided by the seller.

For buyers seeking extra reassurance, we also wanted to keep the option of in-person expert authentication available for an additional fee, offering added peace of mind.

The buyer is always informed about what the AI authentication and purchasing process involve.

I streamlined user flows and developed transparency-focused messaging to enhance both the seller and buyer experience, aligning with the client’s vision for a straightforward and secure authentication process. The guided steps for sellers and reassurance features for buyers ensure an intuitive user journey.

These improvements enhanced both functionality and usability, resulting in a more robust product that is now being actively pitched to high-end retailers.
